Michael - Technical Services Representative

Michael immigrated to Canada from Guangzhou, China in 2005 to begin a new life for himself. Along with a wealth of technical skills and experience he brought from China, he also possessed a determination to be successful in his new country. With support from the BC Skills Connect program, Michael developed a plan to help him to secure work commensurate with his skills.


Carolina - Employment Specialist

Carolina

Carolina came to Canada from Bogota, Colombia where she studied Social Work at the National University and later obtained a Masters degree in Human Resources. After 10 years of working is this field in 1998, she decided to come to Canada to study English. Several years later, she immigrated to Canada to start a family and settled in Vancouver. Three years ago following a day trip to Nanaimo, she and her family decided to move to the Island.

Peter - Professional Driver

Peter arrived in BC in June 2006 from Indonesia. He came with a strong background in the transportation sector with 16 years as a gas station manager and 10 years as a technician and professional driver. One year later, still without suitable employment, Peter was, fortunately referred by a friend to ASPECT’s IMMPowerBC program at the Central Vancouver Island Multicultural Society in Nanaimo.


Ton - Industrial Electrician
Ton

Ton is a journeyman Industrial Electrician with over 25 years of experience in his field. An avid sports fisherman, Ton had travelled to British Columbia several times on fishing trips in the past. He and his wife both wished to pursue a dream of living in this beautiful province and in October 2007, they arrived from the Netherlands to begin their new life in Canada.
