Central Vancouver Island Multicultural Society (CVIMS) is a non-profit settlement organization located in Nanaimo, B.C, Canada. Established in 1979, CVIMS provides support to newcomers and refugees. Services include settlement, employment, family and language programs.
We are a registered charity providing services to immigrants. We offer English language classes, employment and direct settlement assistance as well as other related services. We are a community-based agency that works with individuals and organizations to ensure that all those in our diverse community have equitable access to its services and opportunities.

As part of our Family Services, we offer childminding while you attend English classes at CVIMS. We also provide school support through our Settlement Workers in Schools (Kindergarten to Grade 12) and youth programming for pre-teens and teens through our Youth Connections program.

Each year the Immigrant Welcome Centre at the Central Vancouver Island Multicultural Society welcomes hundreds of new immigrants from over 50 countries around the world – and almost as many different languages! With specialized programs, services and supports for newcomers, we help make the transition to a new life in Canada a little easier.
