Each year, the BC Career Development Association recognizes, acknowledges and honours the extraordinary accomplishments of those working in BC’s Career Development sector by nominating them for CDC awards.
On March 27, and in celebration of their 20th anniversary, the BC Career Development Association held their annual conference in Vancouver, with over 500 career practitioners, settlement professionals, education providers, community service agencies, business and industry leaders from across Canada! The Career Development Organization of the Year award was presented to the Central Vancouver Island Multicultural Society. Spokesperson for BC CDC said the wide range of services delivered by the Society was identified by the Awards Committee as a significant asset to Central Island region. CVIMS provides settlement support, language classes, daycare, the HIPPY program, and a variety of innovative employment initiatives to newcomers to Canada.
CVIMS is honoured to be chosen for the award this year and we wish to extend our gratitude to BC CDA. Angelika Valchar, CCDP (Left) and Charlee Touchette, CCDP (Right) accepted the award on behalf of Central Vancouver Island Multicultural Society. “It was such an awesome feeling to be recognized for the work we do”, says Angelika Valchar, Manager of the Employment Programs at CVIMS, “especially once we saw the impressive list of nominees!”
