General Community Interpretation Services

Central Vancouver Island Multicultural Society (CVIMS) provides General Community Interpretation services upon request, at a fee. Please carefully read and agree to our policies and you will be redirected to our form for booking.

Tips to maximize your interpretation experience

  • Speak directly to your client, not the interpreter, even when asking for explanations or clarifications.
  • Allow additional time for the appointment or interview. Remember everything is being said twice.
  • Use language that the client can understand. Avoid jargon and complicated terminology where possible.
  • Do not ask the interpreter to offer any advice or to summarize the message.
  • In the form, please provide an alternative date and time if possible to increase the chances of booking a session in case the interpreter is not available during the preferred date and time.

After the session…

Once the interpretation session is completed, the interpreter will ask the attending professional to sign the requisition form to confirm the time and other details. This is crucial for our finance team to generate the invoice with accurate information. Once generated, the invoice will be sent to the requester and is due upon receipt.

We’d be extremely grateful to hear your thoughts about our services.  Our team will reach out with a survey link that will take 5 minutes to complete. Please take your time to let us know how the service went, your feedback will help us improve future services.

Booking an Interpreter

Once you have read, understood, and agree to abide by our Interpretation Services policies, you will be redirected to the booking form. Please fill it out to the best of your knowledge and a team member will contact you to discuss the arrangements.
